Educational Instruction and Library Occupations, with a share of 23% new job postings, was the occupation with the greatest hiring activity in the South & Central American mining industry in Q2 2023 , ahead of Office and Administrative Support Occupations with a 3% share of new job postings.
The other prominent roles included Computer and Mathematical Occupations with a 3% share in Q2 2023, Management Occupations with a 2% share and Architecture and Engineering Occupations with a 2% share of new job postings.
Top five companies accounted for 61% of hiring activity
PT Vale Indonesia posted 1,138 jobs in Q2 2023 and registered a growth of 45% over the previous quarter, followed by Vale with 1,049 jobs and a 17% drop. Sociedad Quimica y Minera de Chile, with 200 jobs, and Cummins, with 197 jobs, recorded a 25% rise and a 213% rise, respectively, while Anglo American recorded a 14% decline with a 138 new job postings during Q2 2023.

Brazil held the leading share of the South & Central American mining hiring activity with a 71.34% share, a 7% increase over Q1 2023. Chile was next with 13.62%, four-percentage-point down over the previous quarter.
